The new season is off to a very fast start with beach patrols, nippers, Bronze Medallion and first-aid training, as well as Open Days.
Brunswick beach was patrolled by one of the Club’s most experienced teams last weekend, including patrol captain Kris (the first female life-member of Bruns SLSC) and Simon who has 24 years of patrol seasons under his belt.
This patrol has completed five seasons together, which is a great testimonial to the fantastic community spirit that has developed within our organisation.
Re-qualification first-aid sessions at the Club are ongoing. The second group completed their training on Saturday and the third are scheduled to start on November 5.
This is also the start date for the next Bronze Medallion Surf Life Saving Course that runs over six weeks.
A big season of Nippers is also underway.
First up on the Bruns SLSC calendar is a fund-raising event (Hawaiian theme) at the Victory Hotel in Mooball on Friday October 14, held in collaboration with Rotary and Lions clubs.
SLSC Open Days
For those keen to learn more about surf life saving the NSW Surf Club Open Days are on this weekend.
Local surf clubs will be hosting a number of activities including life saving demonstrations, clubhouse tours, barbecues and displays.
Some clubs will also be offering people the chance to try out a range of beach activities and rescue scenarios first hand, to give them a genuine feel for the challenges and excitement of surf lifesaving!

• All other local SLSC including Ballina Lighthouse and Lismore, Byron Bay, Cudgen Headland, Fingal Rovers, Lennox Head– Alstonville, Salt and Yamba Sunday 16th.
